For decades, West Indies Cricket (the Windies) dominated on the world stage, and the islands all stood together to cheer them on. Recent years have seen a drop in the team’s success, and with it, the pride and unity between West Indian islands.
With the West Indies the T20 Cricket World Cup, CG wanted to reignite the spirit of the West Indies and become a conduit of cricket culture across the islands.
Clio Sports Shortlist - Brand x Team
Every kid dreams of playing against their heroes, so we had kids from across the islands face off against archival footage of their heroes to bring the campaign to life in broadcast.
An Anthem for the Islands - West Indies Deyah
Former Windies captain Dwayne “DJ” Bravo released an anthem called “CHAMPION” and it lit up the islands again during their run in 2016 (now it’s pretty big in India where he coaches). So what better way to rally the islands, than a fresh anthem?
We tapped DJ Bravo to write and record a new rallying cry produced by Grammy winner Troyton Rami and featuring a surprise cameo from CG spokesperson, Aunt Angie. We shot the music video with Gil Greene (a favorite of stars like Pitbull and Nicki Minaj) and played the anthem in stadium all the way through the Windies Super 8 World Cup run (that's an Elite 8 run if you need an American sports parallel).
